Management Risks

We have been at the forefront of developing Directors and Officers Liability, Entity / Legal Expenses and Employment Law Protection for over twenty years.

Traditionally policies have been issued under separate arrangements, but our Management Risks approach now caters for these three areas under one arrangement:

  • Directors and Officers Liability (D&O)
  • Entity Defence (Entity)
  • Employment Law Protection (ELP) (N.B. Not available in Northern Ireland)

Whilst we strongly recommend that wherever possible an Assured should seek to arrange comprehensive protection by effecting all three Insuring Clauses, we are willing to consider providing the D&O and ELP covers in isolation.

Unlike some Insurers, all of our covers are based upon the same 'broad form' wording, regardless of size.

Scope of Cover

Directors and Officers
Providing protection for all Directors and Officers of the Company from the chairman to the most junior offer. Cover also available for Clubs and Societies and Residents Associations.

Entity Defence
Providing cover for the Entity (the Company) in respect of specific situations which arise in the United Kingdom.

Employment Law Protection
Providing cover for the employer, their management and their employees.

Providing comprehensive coverage for Private Limited Companies and Limited Liability Partnerships we are able to accommodate the majority of exposures:

  • Established Companies
  • Management Buy Outs / Buy Ins
  • New Start-ups
  • Companies seeking a share placing / stock exchange listing / external investment

  • Companies in financial difficulties or undergoing restructuring

Claims Handling

As with most types of claim and in accordance with the terms and conditions of the policy we take control of all claims notified to us.

Employment is a specialist and potentially litigious area and it is essential that we respond to allegations promptly. In this regard currently all Employment claims are handled on our behalf (and in accordance with agreed protocols and charges) by a dedicated employment team at Beachcroft Solicitors, who work in conjunction with our own claims department. We do not utilise clients 'selected' or 'preferred' solicitors as it is essential that we exercise tight control over the decision making progress and seek to contain legal costs which have a direct bearing on the premiums we charge. This is no different to any other class of insurance where an Insurer panel solicitor' or (in the case of a Legal Expenses Insurer) an 'appointed representative' is utilised. It avoids potential conflicts of interest and enables us to provide a first class and cost effective service.

The FREE helpline is an integral part of this comprehensive service as it provides important advice for clients facing an employment 'issue' and helps recognise (at an early stage) those situations where a claim could materialise in the absence of appropriate action.
