An ‘Ab Fab’ meeting at the Markel Stand
The British Insurance Brokers Association (BIBA) chose London as the venue for its 2010 conference, which was an opportunity for Markel UK and the London office to highlight Markel’s collective experience and services to brokers from both the regions and the City.
The event was certainly ‘Absolutely Fabulous’ for Markel. Our stand was themed on the kitchen from ‘Ab Fab’, complete with Patsy lookalike, Sue Bradbury, causing many delegates to do a double take and question whether she was in fact Joanna Lumley, the conference’s keynote speaker!
‘Patsy’ was a huge success in drawing in delegates to our stand and providing entertaining banter alongside the usual business discussions. Guests were served fresh coffee and even enjoyed a drop of Bolly in the afternoon. Many also took up the opportunity to ‘pose with Patsy’ and have their photograph taken as a memento.
We created a further stir when our lookalike came face to face with the real Joanna Lumley. In spite of her very busy programme Joanna very kindly agreed to stand in front of our stand and pose with Sue Bradbury for photos. She was lovely in person and really delighted to meet her lookalike. It was a triumph to get a picture of the pair together.
