This year, the national event for freelancers and the self-employed, National Freelancers Day, is going ahead on Thursday 16th June 2022.

What is National Freelancers Day?

Run by our friends at IPSE (the Association of Independent Professionals and the Self-Employed), National Freelancers Day (NFD) is their biggest event of the year – a day to celebrate the freelance community including keynote speeches, webinars, networking opportunities, one-to-one guidance and even more. NFD is virtual which means you can attend from anywhere in the world.

What does National Freelancers Day include?

National Freelancers Day will give self-employed people a glimpse of what comes next and examine how self-employment can strengthen the UK’s post-pandemic recovery.

Tackling three core streams, National Freelancers Day will help you to bounce back, post pandemic, stronger than ever before and discover how you can make the most of the new opportunities out there.

Whether you’re newly self-employed or an experienced freelancer, National Freelancers Day will have something for you.

The event will cover:

• Building your freelance community and values

• Tips on managing your mental health and wellbeing as a self-employed worker

• Financial management to help you prepare for your career and future

• Inspiring case studies – hear from those who’ve made a success of it, and how they’ve marketed their businesses.

Have your business insurance questions answered with a 1-2-1 session

At National Freelancers Day, we'll be offering virtual 1-2-1 insurance guidance sessions for attendees, to answer any questions you have regarding business insurance – including what each cover protects against and which covers you may wish to consider for your business.

Once you’ve registered for National Freelancers Day, you can book a 1-2-1 session with one of our insurance experts.

Learn how to maximise your chances of getting paid on time

As well as offering 1-2-1 sessions, we will also be hosting the webinar ‘how to maximise your chances of getting paid on time’.

Designed for freelancers, contractors and anyone running a small business, this webinar will equip you with the knowledge to increase your chances of getting paid on time. Presented by Mark Rankin, Head of Commercial Services at Markel Law, the webinar will cover:

- How to use payment milestones for your benefit

- How to manage scope creep and requoting for work

- The steps to take when a client hasn’t paid an invoice

- How to manage the debt recovery process without destroying client relationships

- Your legal options if an invoice remains unpaid
