About the award
Markel UK, the specialist charity insurer, and Small Charities Coalition, the support organisation for small charities, are delighted to announce the return of Britain's Best Volunteer award, to reward those who volunteer their time to help small, local charities, community groups and not-for-profit organisations.
Markel and Small Charities Coalition recognise the vast number of small charitable organisations in the UK who, without the help they receive from their volunteers, would quite possibly not be able to continue.
Britain's Best Volunteer invites the UK public to make their nominations online, bringing the remarkable work of volunteers of small charities to the attention of the judges. Both Markel and Small Charities Coalition want to give recognition to these individuals by giving the winner and finalists something to enjoy, and their organisations some financial support.
This year's award runs from February through to March 2016.
Social and PR support for finalists
Not every volunteer is social media or PR savvy, so to assist the finalists shortlisted by the judges, the Small Charities Coalition will provide each one with the opportunity to partner with a social media and PR specialist. They will be there to answer any questions the finalist has to promote themselves for the public vote, as well as receiving a marketing pack with hints and tips. This support is entirely optional and finalists are under no obligation to take up this offer should they prefer not to.
