About the award
To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week #NAW2024 that launched on Monday 5th February, we were on the search for The Nation’s A* Apprentice.
As the country recovers from the economic uncertainty of the last few years, we believe that apprentices are our future. It is more vital than ever that companies invest in apprenticeship programmes, to ensure the development and long-term success of the young talent that the UK has to offer, and guarantee the future skills the UK needs to thrive as an economy.
We wanted to celebrate the trades apprentices across the UK who are motivated and dedicated to their learning and progression. We invited employers and colleagues to nominate an apprentice within their own business who stood out and went the extra mile – from showing an eagerness to learn, to putting in extra graft during the working day.
The winners of The Nation’s A* Apprentice award received a development package worth up to £5,000. The package was made up of a Festool toolkit and accessories worth £4,000, 24-hour tools cover for a year from Markel Direct, and £750 to spend on TuffStuff workwear.
The Competition
Your nominee had to be employed as a trades apprentice, be a resident of the UK, the Channel Islands, or the Isle of Man, and be aged 18 or over (view full terms and conditions).
The deadline for nominations was on Friday 23rd February 2024 after which any subsequent submissions were not counted.
Step two: Shortlisting by our judging panel
After all submissions had been received, our expert judging panel assessed the nominations and chose the three winners. They looked for apprentices who’ve shown not only passion, dedication, and drive in their position but also demonstrated being a self-starter with a positive attitude.
Step three: Our winners are announced
Once our judges have come to a decision, our three winners will be contacted and announced in the week commencing Monday 18th March 2024.
