Markel direct is a trading name of Markel (UK) Limited.

Markel (UK) Limited is an appointed representative of Markel International Insurance Company Limited which is authorised by the Prudential Regulation Authority and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and Prudential Regulation Authority (FCA Registered Number: 202570). Markel (UK) Limited is a Markel International group company. Markel (UK) Limited only places insurance policies with Markel International Insurance Company Limited. Markel (UK) Limited does not act for you in the purchasing of contracts of insurance via this Site.

There is a contractual relationship between Markel (UK) Limited and Markel International Insurance Company Limited. Markel (UK) Limited receives no specific fees or commission under that contract, but Markel International Insurance Company Limited pays the costs of the operation of this Site by Markel (UK) Limited.

This Site has been approved for the purposes of section 21 of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 by Markel International Insurance Company Limited.

Accessing our Site

Access to our Site is permitted on a temporary basis, and we reserve the right to withdraw or amend the service we provide on our Site without notice (see below). We will not be liable if for any reason our Site is unavailable at any time or for any period. This Site is intended for use by clients domiciled in and operating primarily from the UK.

From time to time, we may without liability restrict access to some parts of our Site, or our entire Site, to users who have stored quotations with us.

If you choose, or you are provided with, a "Username", "Password" or any other piece of information as part of our security procedures for using the services on this Site (such as for generating a quotation), you must treat such information as confidential, and you must not disclose it to, or permit its use by, any third party. We have the right to disable any user identification code or password, whether chosen by you or allocated by us, at any time, if in our opinion you have failed to comply with any of the provisions of these Terms of Use.

We will not be obliged to adjust or reverse any such instructions or transactions and we will not be liable to you for acting on or processing or otherwise acting on such transactions or communications.

You will indemnify us for any loss we suffer as a result of misuse of your Username and Password, where such misuse results from your failure to use reasonable endeavours to prevent unauthorised or fraudulent use.

You will not post any material to our Site, which is obscene, defamatory, threatening or otherwise actionable at law or which would constitute a criminal offence. You will indemnify us against any loss we may suffer by reason of any breach by you of this obligation.

Such indicative quotations are not intended to be binding quotations and the premium quoted may vary once further details about your insurance have been provided to us either via the Site or by telephone.

All quotations provided via the Site or by telephone are valid for a period of 30 days.


We will take care to keep the information on the Site as accurate and up-to-date as possible but give no guarantees regarding the accuracy or availability of the Site.

Other than in respect of death or personal injury resulting from our negligence or the negligence of other members of our corporate group, our directors, employees or agents, neither we nor other members of our corporate group or any of our directors, employees or agents are liable for any loss, damage or consequential loss arising out of or in connection with the use of this Site or the information in it, including but not limited to loss, damage or consequential loss arising from computer viruses, hacking, spyware or adware.

Complaints Procedure

Use of this Site does not affect your or your organisations statutory rights or the statutory or regulatory complaint procedures open to you.

Insurance contracts arranged via this Site are underwritten by Markel International Insurance Company Limited. The arrangement of insurance or the provision of quotations via this Site are subject to these Terms of Use and also to the policy terms, conditions and exclusions.

Those who access this Site do so on their own initiative and are responsible for compliance with applicable local laws or regulations.
